Jake Woods is the President and a co-founder of Team Rubicon, a charity that unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with medical professionals to rapidly deploy emergency response teams into crisis situations. Jake graduated from the University of Wisconsin, where he played football, with a double major in Business and Political Science. He honorably served four years in the United States Marine Corps, deploying to Iraq in 2007 as an infantry squad leader and to Afghanistan in 2008 as a Scout-Sniper. He graduated Scout-Sniper School at the top of his class and in 2007 he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with “V” for valor in the face of the enemy while in Iraq. Jake serves on numerous national veteran committees and speaks around the country at universities and conferences about veteran issues and social entrepreneurism. He was also the GQ Magazine 2011 “Better Men, Better World” Gentlemen of the Year. Jake and fellow co-founder Will McNulty were Grinnell College’s 2012 Recipients of Social Justice Prize. They and Team Rubicon’s accomplishments have been featured on the Huffington Post, CNN, NPR, Time magazine, USA Today, Tedx, MTV, and many other media outlets.
